Getting started

How do I start using the app?

Download the app, open it, and you can start practising straight away. No account needed. Tap a topic to begin a practice session, or head to Mock Tests for a full timed exam.

Do I need an internet connection?

No. All practice questions and mock tests work fully offline. You only need an internet connection to download the handbook audio for the first time and to redeem promo codes or manage your subscription.

Is the content up to date?

Yes. All questions and content are based on the official Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents handbook and updated for 2026. We review the content regularly to reflect any changes to the test format.

Subscriptions and payments

What does Premium include?

Premium unlocks the full bank of 1,000+ practice questions, all 45 mock tests, the complete handbook audio, and every explanation level. There are no ads on any tier.

How much does Premium cost?

You can choose the plan that suits you:

  • Weekly: £3.99
  • Monthly: £4.99
  • Lifetime: £7.99 (one-off payment)

Prices may vary slightly by region. The exact price for your region is shown inside the app before you confirm.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On iOS: open the Settings app, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions. Find Life in the UK Test and tap Cancel Subscription.

On Android: open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Find Life in the UK Test and tap Cancel.

Cancelling at least 24 hours before the end of your current period stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Open the app, go to Settings, and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you used when you originally subscribed. Your Premium access will be restored within a few seconds.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled directly by Apple or Google, not by us.

For Apple purchases, visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID.

For Google Play purchases, visit your Google Play account or contact Google Play support.

If you have an issue we can help with directly, please email us using the form below.

I redeemed a promo code but Premium did not activate

Make sure you have a stable internet connection when redeeming, then close and reopen the app. If Premium still does not appear, tap Restore Purchases in Settings. If the issue continues, email us with the code you used and we will sort it out.

Using the app

How do mock tests work?

Each mock test mirrors the real exam: 24 questions, 45 minutes, 75% to pass. You will see a mix of multiple choice, true/false and select-two questions, just like on test day. Your score and timing are saved so you can track your improvement.

What are the three explanation levels?

Every question has three layers of explanation:

  • Short explanation: a one-line summary of why the answer is correct.
  • Detailed breakdown: the full context from the official handbook.
  • Common mistake: the wrong answer most candidates pick, and why.

Use whichever level suits how much time you have.

How do I download the handbook audio?

Open the Handbook section and tap any chapter. The audio will stream straight away, or you can tap the download icon to save it for offline listening.

My progress did not save

Progress is saved on the device you are using. If you reinstall the app or switch devices, you may need to start fresh. We are working on cloud sync for a future update.
